How do I commission a bespoke map or personal piece?
Please email me (polcrossman@gmail.com) with any details you can give me about what you would like, and we can go from there!
What will you need from me?
If you’re to go ahead with a map, I’ll need a list of places / elements that you’d like including + accompanying images, sent over email or by WeTransfer
How does it work?
Once you’ve confirmed you’d like to go ahead, I’ll send an invoice for 50% of the cost as a deposit. This secures the time in my diary. I’ll then require the info and images to be sent over, so that I can work on a rough sketch for you to see. Once you’ve approved the sketch, I’ll work my magic on the full artwork! I’ll send you a photo once it’s finished, and then arrange for delivery.
Are the maps printed?
No – each map is created as an original artwork, on stretched watercolour paper. There will only ever be one version – yours!
Can I make changes to the final piece?
I can make small additions to a map, but I can’t take anything away. Maps are original artworks (as above) so I can’t take out anything once the rough has been approved – but sometimes there’s space for a few extra details if needs be.
When do I need to get in touch?
As soon as possible! My usual lead-time is 6-8 weeks, but it can be longer at busier times. I have a limited capacity in my diary so I always suggest you get in touch well in advance to guarantee my availability (eg for Christmas or a specific date.) Don’t worry if you don’t have all the elements confirmed when you get in touch – there’s time for that!
What if I don’t know what I want?
I’ll help you figure it out! One of my favourite parts is being creative with putting different elements together. Just drop me an email and we can go from there.
